VOLUNTEER FAQ’S

This Volunteer FAQ page only applies to Signature Events volunteer opportunities.

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

  • You must be over 16 years of age to volunteer. All volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult/parent/guardian.

What COVID-19 requirements are in place for volunteers?

  • We highly encourage volunteers to be fully vaccinated because we interact with a diverse community that may be at-risk individuals. If you’re feeling sick, please stay home. If you’re sick while volunteering, we will ask that you go home and rest.

Will I get training?

  • We provide hands-on training tailored to your assigned role. Be prepared to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Do you keep track of my hours?

  • Volunteers are responsible for tracking their own hours. Our Support Coordinator will sign off on hours if required.

When will we be contacted to volunteer?

  • After you sign up we will send a confirmation email that we have received your information. We will contact you a month before a signature event to sign up to volunteer.

What can I expect on the day of the volunteer shift?

  • The volunteer coordinator will reach out to you about logistics the week of your shift. Keep an eye out for an email about what you’ll be doing the day of your shift.

Do you have a dress code?

  • Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and dress in layers as you may be working outside. Open-toed shoes are not permitted.

Can I bring a friend to volunteer?

  • You can bring a friend to volunteer, but they must sign up in advance.

Can I bring a group to volunteer?

I want my students to volunteer. How can I sign them up?

How long do I have to stay?

  • Plan on staying for the entire volunteer shift for which you have signed up. To successfully complete our projects, we plan on the assigned volunteers staying the entire time.

What if I can’t make it to my volunteer shift anymore?

  • If you need to cancel your volunteer commitment, please try to give us a 24-hour notice. Most of our events depend on having a minimum number of volunteers to be successful. This gives us enough time to find a replacement.

I have more questions. Who do I talk to?
